A propos de la quadriennale de 2011
En premier lieu, je ne suis pas certain que nous soyons (UDS) totalement informés sur le pourquoi de notre quasi non présence en 2003 et notre totale non
présence en 2007.
Que devons-nous faire (en tant qu’Union des scénographes) pour que notre participation soit effective et de qualité en 2011?
Les étudiants savent-ils que l'OISTAT existe? Ceux que je rencontre ne sont pas au courant, et ne savent pas qu'ils peuvent
exposer, faire des spectacles, recevoir des prix !
Entre autre question j'aimerais que nous soyons informés sur l'OISTAT en FRANCE, qui en détient le titre et comment pouvons nous (l'Union des scénographes) dans un premier temps
faire revivre cette organisation en France.
La Scénographie française à été très
représentée pendant des années et à obtenu de nombreux prix. Présent à la dernière PQ07, j'ai rencontré de nombreux amis scénographes d'autres pays, qui m'ont fait part de leur tristesse que la scénographie française ne soit pas présente. Par contre, de minuscules pays avaient fait eux
l'effort d'être présent.
Une autre organisation Européenne se met en place (theatrEurope) et va proposer des activités
très prochainement si l’OISTAT France veut rester confidentiel, chacun peut s'inscrire à cette nouvelle organisation individuellement et ainsi être présent à la prochaine PQ11.
theatrEurope ne sera pas en concurrence avec l'OISTAT mais une
de ses composantes.

Mission
theatrEurope is an association of theatre and performance practitioners, educators and students. It offers individual membership to belong to an association focussed on collaboration and the realisation of active projects. It promotes a greater understanding of all areas of practice through an interdisciplinary creative network, develops and encourages life long learning, and offers guidance and support to emerging talent.
theatrEurope was developed by a group of European professional theatre practitioners and educators working together in OISTAT Scenofest 2007 for the Prague Quadrennial. It aims to follow the principles developed by OISTAT and work alongside OISTAT centres to create European based activities.
theatrEurope will
- develop and where appropriate realise project-based activity for theatre practitioners.
- offer membership to individual practitioners from all areas of theatre and performance, both professional and educational.
- work as an association of individual practitioners, in collaboration with existing national and international organisations to exchange good practice in contemporary theatre and performance design and its related practice.
- actively encourage and promote membership of existing OISTAT centres and the creation of new OISTAT centres in countries where they currently do not exist.
- disseminate the work of member European theatre practitioners, through laboratory type workshops/lectures and publications to the widest audiences
- provide an active support network for the development of future theatre and performance practice.
Membership
theatrEurope promotes active individual membership, encouraging members to initiate projects and activities.
Membership is limited to individual membership, organisations cannot hold membership, but individual members of organisations can. The ethos is based on individual collaboration.
Membership is available to all of Europe including non EU European countries. Individuals from outside Europe may become associate members.
As a member, you are part of a network that stretches both horizontally and vertically with collaborators and links to cultural organisations, associations, professional development, training, and sharing practice within Europe.
As an active member, you are encouraged and supported in organising activities, symposiums exhibitions and publications
Notification of performances and exhibitions and events, will be sent via newsletter, formal and informal meetings can be offered, with at Least one major annual event.
Membership fee
Are set at an affordable price to encourage maximum individual membership.
Every individual becomes a member by filling the registration form and paying the fee.
Active members can apply for full (voting) membership in writing to the secretariat 4 weeks before the executive committee, which will decide on their next meeting.
Individuals can be invited by the executive committee to become member of the general meeting.

Professional 40 euros
Support membership donation from between 250-500 euros
Application for discounted fees can be made to the executive committee.
theatrEurope welcomes donations from Sponsors to
- to support the organisations administrative costs
- to provide bursaries to support outstanding young practitioners develop their work.
- To create funding to develop collaborative pan European projects

Projects and Activity
theatrEurope encourages and supports individual member’s proposals for projects and activities.
A peer group selected from the members and appropriate to the proposed discipline may evaluate members’ proposals and recommend it to the executive committee for support.
Workshops for scenography schools/theatre professionals/secondary schools and other interested organisations.
Working with renowned, scenographers , Theatre Architecture consultants, sound and light experts, including Jean-guy Lecat, Pamela Howard, Steve Brown, Henk Van Der Geest. Theatre professionals and educators meet together to share and develop their art and practice, creating a forum for response and communication, an opportunity for educators and young professionals, to reinvent practice explore potentials, re-experience learning.
Ideally also involving representatives from manufacturing companies to contribute and participate in workshops. Developing an interface between manufacturers and practitioners and offering sponsorship opportunities.\
MAJOR Activity to promote and support new talent, in a European Exhibition OF scenography that demonstrates an awareness of the need to create a sustainable theatre.
Collaborative projects with OISTAT and other organisations
theatrEurope will collaborate with existing organisations to develop funding streams, for projects such as Scenofest. create additional festivals symposiums workshops activities across Europe. That focus on specific subjects in detail.
Developing Regulations across Europe
We can work to help develop and review safety regulations within Theatre
Across Europe, by comparing our collaborative practices and developing standard procedures. Liaising with the OISTAT technology commission.
Supporting the role of the individual
There is need to also develop the role of the Technicians, and respect for their art, the person not only the equipment, fostering the idea of the collaborative team and practitioner.
Developing and identifying good practice
Developing a pan European focus group to explore salaries, working conditions, designers copyright and design fees
Training in new countries
Training outreach European wide.
Digital Theatre Guide
An extensive online database guide to European theatre.
A Guide to problems and solutions common in European theatre networks.
This will include details and plans of all major touring venues, suppliers, manufacturers in each individual member’s countries. Linking to a Europe wide, Theatre community website, allowing blog, project and portfolio access.
Linking also with Theatre at Risk
The guide also offers revenue funding via an advertising scheme for companies
